Alko welcomes The Dalmatian Dog - two wines to launch in 70 stores across Finland

Two award-winning wines from Zhoda's vineyards in Croatia have been selected in a competitive tender process by Alko, Finland's state-owned alcohol retail monopoly, similar to Sweden's Systembolaget. The selected wines are The Dalmatian Dog Babić and The Dalmatian Dog Pošip, both crafted from handpicked local Dalmatian grape varieties.

"We're thrilled that our wines will now have a broad launch in Finland. With its generous flavor from the local Dalmatian grape babić and its distinctive design, the The Dalmatian Dog has since its launch five years ago become a favorite among Swedish wine lovers. Now it's Finland's turn. Being chosen in a highly competitive process makes this launch particularly rewarding," says Robert Karlsson, CEO of Zhoda Investments.

The wines will be available in 70 Alko stores across Finland from 31 March to 5 August 2026.

This marks another important milestone in the international growth of Testament Winery and The Dalmatian Dog, which has already achieved great success in Sweden. The Dalmatian Dog Babić, introduced at Systembolaget nearly five years ago, has since been praised by both consumers and wine critics, with a recent positive review earlier this month in Dagens Nyheter, one of Sweden's leading newspapers.

The red wine The Dalmatian Dog Babić is crafted by Juraj Sladić at Testament Winery, using the native babić grape. The white The Dalmatian Dog Pošip, produced by Igor Radovanović at Black Island Winery, is made from the fresh and aromatic pošip grape. Both wines are made exclusively from hand-picked grapes grown in the mineral-rich soils of Dalmatia.

The Dalmatian Dog wines are a tribute to the Dalmatian dog breed, which originates from the Dalmatia region where Zhoda's vineyards are located.
