Meltron breaks into pharmaceuticals market - first order and selected supplier
Meltron, through the subsidiary Meltron Oy in Finland, has received its first order in the pharmaceutical industry. After a very long period of evaluation, and some modifications to meet the customer's specific needs, Fermion Oyj has ordered 20 pcs of Meltron's gas explosive proof EX lights for a pilot installation in Oulu, Finland. Fermion Oyj, a wholly owned subsidiary of the Finnish medical company Orion Corporation, manufactures Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients (API). The Meltron EX fulfils all requirements of Fermion. The EX certification was extended in the beginning of the year.
- We are very happy to receive this first order from Fermion, says Ville Sistonen, CEO of Meltron. The order is small but strategically important since the pharmaceutical industry is one of our prioritized sectors and the EX series is the top of the line product in Meltron's portfolio. The extended certification earlier in the year, which makes the EX range of applications even wider, was an important achievement. The interest from the pharmaceutical interest is very high.
After a long period of evaluation, Meltron has been selected as the supplier of another, large international pharmaceutical company for its ATEX lights replacement program. This has also involved modifications requested by the customer, which have been reviewed and approved by the certification authority as an amendment to the original certification.
- We expect other customers to place pilot orders very soon, says Ville Sistonen. We have now shown again we can quickly make customer adaptions when requested. We have received orders from a dozen new customers in other sectors as well during the last half year.
